Large description:

The post holder is expected to act in an independent and autonomous way but work within the organisations policies, procedures and guidelines, work on their own initiative and in conjunction with their Line Manager and other team members.  A flexible, enthusiastic and practical approach is required to respond to the ever changing needs of the schemes/projects.  A positive and patient style is also vital.  Social/leisure activities form an essential element of the schemes/projects, and the post holder is seen as a crucial character but acting, where possible, as a facilitator that than “doer”.  An integral element of the post is to actively encourage resident involvement within the scheme, and the Association as a whole.

The post involves a high degree of liaison with residents, their families and local statutory and voluntary agencies, therefore, the post holder must be an excellent communicator at all levels and must be confident of his/her professional and decision making abilities.  The postholder will have sound judgement, good organisational skills, and the ability to deal with the broad range of demands which apply to this post. 

The postholder will need to have empathy towards the different client groups, and preferably have experience of working with vulnerable adults. 

The postholder must operate within clear professional and confidentiality boundaries both with the residents and other support agencies working with them.  The postholder will be expected to develop and maintain a positive relationship with voluntary and statutory external agencies on behalf of the residents, the projects/schemes and the Association.

The postholder will be expected to provide administrative support good administrative and IT skills are, therefore, essential in this role.

The broad range of residents needs will involve close co-ordination with other agencies and the postholder must be aware of their own limitations and the need to involve the appropriate professionals. It is vital that there is effective communication between team members and that relevant information is always recorded and passed on to the appropriate people.

The post involves extensive contact with the residents of the projects/schemes, therefore, the postholder must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills at all levels.  The post may involve handling confrontation and the need to challenge unacceptable behaviour, the ability to remain calm under pressure and use authority appropriately in order to maintain discipline and safety is therefore essential. 

The postholder must be committed to teamwork.

Much of the work involves dealing with confidential and privileged information, which must be kept secure in accordance with procedures and in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998.

Full Time and Part Time hours.
