Reporting to: Senior Project Officer/Operations Manager
Location: Manchester, Bolton, Blackburn and Rochdale
The Resettlement/Floating Support Officer is responsible for the welfare and progress of residents at a Project or in the wider community, ensuring that the clients successfully maintain their tenancies.
The overall objectives of this post are to work as a member of a team, providing tailored support packages which link clients into the required services within the community to ensure all support needs are met.
Key contacts
Clients, voluntary and statutory agencies, Housing departments, Social Services, Welfare benefit departments, Housing providers and company employees
Main tasks and duties
• To liaise with residents and accommodation providers, discussing any issues of concern related to their tenancies, ensuring the client adheres to the terms of the tenancy agreement.
• To develop with service users’ individual support plans designed to enable and facilitate grater independence and living skills.
• To assist service users integrate into the wider community and encourage social inclusion.
To report any potential problems and concerns relating to the welfare of residents to appropriate agencies and professionals.
To liaise with external agencies to ensure relevant support services are provided.
To liaise with referring agencies, implementing marketing strategies, in order to generate quality referrals to ensure a full caseload is maintained.
To make accurate written logs and records on all clients.
To assist the Senior Project Manager and Operations Manager in the collation of
information and statistics relating to the work of the service.
To offer advice and guidance in a non-judgmental manner, as requested, with a view to empowering residents.
To provide resettlement and rehousing support to designated resettlement schemes.
To provide tapering follow on support visits to clients living in the wider community.
Assist residents with claiming benefits, completing grants and practical issues relating to independent living.
To be aware of and follow the Health and Safety and Confidentiality policies and procedures of the Association.
To provide support in a way that respects an individuals rights and choices.
To carry out other duties as reasonably required by the Senior Project Officer and Operations Manager.
Person Specification
Experience
Essential
At least 12 months experience of working in supported housing or a related field.
• Experience of Support Planning
Desirable
• At least 12 months experience of working with relevant client group.
Knowledge & Skills
Essential
• Demonstrate written and verbal communication skills
• Demonstrate IT literacy
• Demonstrate knowledge of the resettlement process
Ability to prioritise own workload
Desirable
Effective leadership skills
• Demonstrate knowledge of welfare benefits
Knowledge of Supporting People Framework
